Why drink water to lose weight?

Water has zero calories.  It’s clean and pure (usually) and it goes straight to work making your body healthier and stronger. Some people claim the don’t like the taste of water or they just don’t like to drink plain water.  Honestly, I think it’s an excuse to drink something full of calories.  Why do they lie so they can drink caloric beverages?  I don’t know.  I do talk about the psychosomatic effects food and calorie intake has on people in the book, but I am no therapist or counselor.  I do know that water is good for you.  Drinking water will help you stay healthy.  And water will aid you in your quest to lose weight.  What else do you need?

Okay, fine.  Here’s another reason to drink plenty of water.  In the article, Can Water Improve Mood?, Carolyn draws ties between the amount of dehydration and depression.  She states, “At just a little over 1% dehydration level, subjects showed significant adverse effects.”  She’s referring to a study conducted by the Journal of Nutrition.  I’m  not saying if you’re sad, a glass of H2o is all you need!  Still, why risk it?  Stay hydrated and stay happy!

Just remember to stay away from the fads, such as the belief that all you need to do is drink warm water to lose weight.  Warm, cold, hot, tepid, it doesn’t matter.  If you’re still wondering exactly how much water should you drink to lose weight, know that it’s more than you’re drinking now!
