What is the best way to lose weight fast?

Figuring out the best way to lose weight fast is almost like trying to find a way to fly to the moon.  The fact is, the best way to lose weight is any way that works for you–and is sustainable for many years.  If you’ve discovered that, congratulations.  I doubt you have or you wouldn’t be wasting your time here…unless your’e here for your friend.  Yeah. Right.

A recent article came out that compared the effect of exercise and the effect of reducing calories on losing weight and getting rid of body fat.  People who worked out like crazy and didn’t alter their caloric intake lost 10 times LESS weight than those who ONLY reduced their calories!  Are you shocked? I wasn’t.

What is the best and fastest way to lose weight?

The study is outstanding because it proved the point I always try to make with the half Meal Habit, which is, you don’t have to work out to lose weight.  As long as you are burning more calories than you consume, you will see results.  I’m not talking about burning more protein calories or fiber calories or fruits and veggie calories either.  Just calories in vs. calories burned.

So, what is the best way to lose weight quickly?  A good combination of regular calorie reduction and some form of regular exercise or physical activity.  Did you notice the repeat use of the word regular?  This is the key for success.  You can’t cut back on calories for a few days and then go into a full blown over-eating food-fest.

In trying to discover what is the best and quickest way to lose weight, I found the answer and it’s simple: Eat less, move more, and hydrate.  Three simple rules that will change your life.  They changed mine.  And they can and will change yours, too.

  2. I eat all my meals off a small plate and tend to make meals that are not larger than 400 cals per serving. Should I be having these low cal options and adding something to it to make it more substantial? Also, should I be halving small plate portions or moving up to a larger plate and halving that? Thank you in advance! I love this concept! 🙂

    • Hi Rosie! I am so glad to hear you’re loving the Half Meal Habit concept! If you are currently having 400 calorie meals on small plates, you are PERFECT. You just need to make sure you’re sticking to the plan: Breakfast, Snack 1, Lunch (either half or your 400 cal. option), Snack 2, and then Dinner. You could simply put your small plated meal onto a larger plate, but I don’t think that’s really necessary.

      See, the whole point of making half meals is to teach us to do what you’re currently doing, which is having a 400 to 500 calorie intake per meal with a slightly smaller 250 to 300 calorie intake per snack. If you are counting calories and sticking to this plan, you’ll do great. If you’re like a lot of the HMH followers and are tired of counting, THAT’S what the half meal part of the plan is for.

  9. Started the diet today. Only took a small amount of discipline. Dividing my lunch into an afternoon snack along with lunch was fantastic. So filling because of the protein in my chicken salad.
